Young Stars Sports Club had organized Under 19 Inter-State Hockey Tournament from February 9 to 12. Here, Kolhapur’s The District Womens Hockey Association defeated Amravati Group by 2-1 goals.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, club president Yamanur Gudihal said that hockey teams from Mysore, Kolar, Bagalkot, Pune, Kolhapur, Sangli, Hubli, Bijapur, Tirupati and Haveri will be invited to participate in inter-state hockey competition.
Accommodation and food had been provided for all the teams. One way train ticket amount had been reimbursed for players. First prize carries Rs 12,000, second prize Rs 8,000 and third prize carries Rs 4,000, and Rs 1,000 was awarded to the best team of the tournament.
In this competition, Ashwini Sagare was selected as the best player throughout the championship. Also, Priyanka Patil attained 4 goals and Snehal Lagali scored 2 winning goals. Other overall outstanding players were Rama Potnis, Shweta Patil, Sucheta Bhalkar, Dhanashri Patil and Goal Keeper Snehal Thanekar.
The players of the winning team are Rama Potnis (Yashwantrao Chauhan Mahavidyalay), Shweta Patil (Vivekanand College), Snehal Lagali, Amruta Desai, Amruta Chougule (New English School, Nul), Priyanka Patil, Swati Patil, Ashwini Sagare, Tejaswini Bandgar (Parashar Highschool, Pargav), Dhanashri Patil, Rutuja Patil (Warana School), Snehal Thanekar (Jyotiling Vidyamandir, Nigve), Ashwini Shelar (Shahu Dayanand Junior College), Sucheta Bhalkar (New Model Junior College) and Pooja Patil (Usharaje Girls Highschool).
The Winning team players were guided by Surekha Patil, Kalapana Lohar, Raghu Patil, Vijay Salonkhe, Mohan Bhandavle and Manohar Mangale. Kolhapur citizens are very happy as Team from Kolhapur has won the National tournament and brought pride and honour to Kolhapur and Womens Hockey team.
