Sou. Kadambari Kawale from Nationalist Congress party becomes the new mayor of Kolhapur. Whereas Shri Digambar Farakate chosen Deputy mayor.
Sou. Kadambari kawale had submitted her application for the Mayorship, on thursday. She was the only one applying for the post of Mayorship assuring her unopposed selection. And for the post of Deputy Mayor, Shri. Digambar Farakte from Congress and Shri. Raju Humbe from Shivsena had applied. As Congress-NCP have big majority in Municipal Corporation, Congress’s Shri. Digambar Farakte is selected as new Deputy Mayor.
Mayor and Deputy Mayor were selected today in a General Meeting of Municipal Corporation. In the history of Municipal Corporation of Kolhapur, first time someone from Nationalist Congress has applied for the mayor’s position so with full procession the form was filled by Sou. Kadambari Kawale on Thursday. Labour Minister Hasan Mushriff, Ex-MP Nivedita Mane, Chhtrapati Sambhajiraje, Shri. R. K. Powar, and other members gathered at Government rest house and joined the form filling procession of Sou. Kawale.
Chh. Sambhajiraje, Shri. Mahesh Sawant, Shri. R. K. Powar, Ex-Deputy Minister Prakash Patil, Opposition Leader Shri. Murlidhar Jadhav, Corporator Shri. Jayant Patil, Trupti Malavi, and other important people were present with Sou. Kawale at time of filing the form.
From Congress Shri. Digambar Farakte and Shri. Sanjay Mohite were good contenders for the post of Deputy Mayor, and so discussions were going on. And finally Shri. Digambar Farakte were chosen as the most appropriate contender for Deputy Mayorship in Committee meeting. Chh. Malojiraje, Shri. Pralhad Chavan and Ex-Mayor Vandana Buchade were present with Shri. Digambar Farakate at time of filing the form for Deputy Mayorship.
All the contenders were interviewed by Minister of State Shri. Satej Patil, Ex- MLA Shri. P. N. Patil and Chh. Malojiraje. It is believed that Shri. Digambar Farakate is chosen due to his ties with Chh. Malojiraje Group.
