Various Businessmen, Associations, Grain Merchants, Confectionaries, Petrol-Diesel Associations and Chemist and Druggist are on an indefinite strike from Today, 12 Dec 2011 against Local Body Tax (LBT).
Kolhapur District’s Businessmen Associations, Grain Merchants, Confectionaries, Petrol-Diesel Associations and Chemist and Druggist Association had arranged a meeting at evening at Kavla Naka for discussing against LBT. Here Heads of various associations gave a key to MLA Shri Rajesh Kshirsagar and appealed to cancel LBT permanently. Shri Kshirsagar said that he will convey the issue of LBT in Winter Session of Vidhan Sabha.
All the merchants clearly stated in their stand that until and unless LBT is revoked, they will not stop their strike against LBT. Shivsena is also supporting all merchants against LBT. In this meeting, President of “Kolhapur Vyapari Mahasangh” Shri Sadanand Korgaokar, Shri Suresh Gaikwad, Shri Amar Kshirsagar, Shri Ravindra Tendulkar, Shri Ganesh Burase, Shri Sanjay Ramchandani, Shri Sham Panjwani and other important people were present.
“Kolhapur Vyapari Mahasangh” had demanded for LBT to be cancelled permanently. For this demand, all the merchants are on an indefinite strike from today. The President of “Kolhapur Vyapari Mahasangh” Shri Sadanand Korgaokar along with others have protested against LBT since 8 months and decisive agitation against Municipal Corporation to revoke LBT will be undertaken continuously till this issue is sorted out.
Government had promised the merchants that they will discuss regarding LBT, but no discussion is conducted till date. And So, the merchants are on an indefinite strike from today onwards.
