Friday, Toll-Virodhi Kruti Samiti (Committee against Toll) gave it a new start and mass protests were conducted followed by a rally.
Citizens of Kolhapur and the committee against toll have once again shown their anger by conducting rally and sloganeering “Denar nahi, denar nahi, Toll amhi denar nahi”, “IRB chale jaao” and “IRB hatao, Shahar bachao”. The committee did ‘Gandhigiri’ at Shiroli Naka by giving various flowers and bouquets to the employees of IRB at toll plaza and requested them to quit.
The rally was conducted from Tararani Chowk to Shiroli Jakaat Naka at 11a.m. on Friday. Various citizens adjoined the rally along with the Activists of Toll-Virodhi Kruti Samiti, Two-wheel riders, four wheelers and rikshaw drivers resulting in traffic jams at Station road, Tararani Chowk, Shivaji University road and Shiroli Naka.
Congress Mahila President Sou. Deepa Patil along with other members including Savita Jadhav, Gayatri Nibhalkar, Vaishali Mahadik, Geeta Raut, Laxmibai Kamble, Meera More, Manisha Powar gave flowers and bouquets to the employees of IRB at toll plaza and requested them to leave work. They announced that this fight is not for one but for the whole Kolhapur and its citizens and all have to be a part of it.
In this mass protest – Rambhau Chauhan, Baba Porte, Corporator Satyajeet Kadam, Municipal Education Committee’s Vice-Chairman Ashok Powar, Kolhapur District Traffic Association’s President Satishchandra Kamble, Hindu Ekta Andolan’s Leela Gaikwad, Chandrakant Barale, Sambhaji Kharade, Anna Potdar, Rashtravadi Congress’s Jaykumar Shinde, Kisan Kalyankar, Mahadev Patil, Janta Group’s Bajrang Shelar, Dilip Desai, Janshakti’s Sameer Nadaf, Manse’s Raju Jadhav, Maratha Mahasang’s Shankarao Shelke, BJP’s Suresh Jarag, Prasad Jadhav, Rajesh Bandar, Ajit Sasne, Mahesh Sasne, Mahadev Jadhav, Lori Operators Associations Vice-President Bhau Ghongale, Hemant Disle, Prakash Bhosale, Vijay Powar and many others were present.
